The Bronx

I like the Bronx.  I hold special feelings for the Bronx, having lived there for much of my life.  Most people don’t seem to know much about the Bronx, as opposed to the city’s other boroughs.  To me, I have a certain understanding of my Bronx, but I like learning new things about it that expands my fondness for it.  The lake above was taken at Van Cortlandt Park all the way on the west side, near Riverdale and where my high school cross country team used to practice.  Yeah, you kind of had to get out of the park before sunset or risk never being seen again, but doesn’t that fear exist in every other borough/township/neighborhood too?  My friend had an awesome birthday picnic here, and on the way out of the park we saw two skunks!  Pepe Le Pew?  I could honestly say that that skunk provided mentorship to me in some ways of life.  Well, Van Cortlandt is a really nice place and my experience there was complete with food, watching people salsa dance by the lake and drinking Old English in a can with a straw – with no paper bag!
