Went bowling yesterday for my birthday at Melody Lanes in Brooklyn and had an awesome time! Near the bowling alley on 37th Street and 4th Ave. was a great little taco truck that had a short bus parked on the street as the tres chic dining area:

Among the standard tacos of chorizo and chicken that they served, they also offered sesos and ojos. I tried the sesos and it wasn’t bad. I just wished that I hadn’t wikipedia’d ’sesos’ afterwards. I didn’t try the ojos but I did take a photo (top) to illustrate what eating such a taco could be like. Reports on its taste were also, “not bad.”

We ate at Joe Shanghai’s in Flushing which was a treat for them as much as it was for me since they pretty much only ever eat/make Korean food.

The F Train with Coney Island seen through the window
Living out in Brooklyn, I forget to check the MTA site for any changes in weekend train service and just assume that everything is running smoothly as if it were rush hour. It happened that in my attempt to go to Manhattan this past Sunday, there was no Manhattan bound service on the D train. Instead I had to take the train all the way into Coney Island, and take another train out of there to get into Manhattan. As a life long New Yorker, I do enjoy these kinds of accidents because I still get to feel like I’m discovering something new in my hometown and experience the thrilling sensation of fearing for my life as I enter through areas of ghetto proper. Also, the view of Coney Island at night is pretty swell so I figure the extended time in my commute was worth it.
