Pensive Girl

First I drew her kind of mean and bitchy.  She looks like she’s scheming of a way to get back at everyone at the prom and she’s trying to make her boobs bigger than they really are:

After the words “edgy,” “tween” and “cute but not too cute”  were referenced by much older, dowdy people, I came up with this girl.  Her shirt and hair are made up of about 50 ungrouped shapes:

Neither girl is being used for a project I worked on at work.  One thing I learned from this:  50+ year old ladies and 30+ year old asian girls have different ideas of what edgy means!

Korean Cucumber Kimchee

cucumbers

hello.  I made cucumber kimchee today which was very easy!  This is one of my favorite Korean side dishes and I’m surprised its taken me so long to get around to making this.

basic recipe:

a bunch of  kirby cucumbers

cut the ends off the cucumbers, and separate them into 2 inch long chunks.  then cut them quarterly while leaving one end of the chunk intact so that you can essentially stuff this entity with flavor later

mix 1/2 cup of sea salt and 1/2 cup of water then pour over the cucumber chunks.  leave for 1-2 hours, mix then leave for another 1-2 hours

pour out the salt water.  the flavor mix entails: red pepper flakes, 1/2 inch cut chives, garlic and mix all together.  The measuring of flavor mix is up to you – this is YOUR dish!

stuff the salty cucumber chunks w/ flavor mix and pack into a glass jar.  when all the flavor mix and/or salty cucumbers are used up, pour about 2 cups of water in the bowl of leftover flavor mix and boil!  then let it sit to room temperature!  then put a little more salt in it then pour into the glass jar filled with cucumber chunks!

seal and let sit for about a day and half.

chill and enjoy.

follow this recipe or just study the two photos above really really hard!

A visit to my parent’s house

In case you weren’t sure what was in the vodka bottle:

ginseng

My mom loves ginseng and my dad loves to drink.  I’m glad to see they have a nice little compromise here.
