This morning

kittybike

I actually woke up early enough today to have breakfast at home.  Then I saw my cat acting weird.  Lately I’m liking the look and process of adding fake film grain to my pictures.

I can’t believe I just spent 11 hours at work, 6 of them retouching?  and I come home and sit right back down at my computer.

I feel like I have to defend this

I just made this photo my Facebook Profile picture and now it’s also a blog post?  I guess I will have to categorize this one as a “Lazy Post.”

So I got new pedals for my bike today from Nashbar and they’re shaped as butterflies!  I now have the two butterfly pedals, and if you notice I also have a butterfly light reflector on the front wheel, and a Hello Kitty bike bell.  To top it off, the accessories and bar tape match in color and when I’m actually riding this bike I complete the whole douche bag fixter look as a little asian girl with a tattoo.  God, I hope the Bike Snob doesn’t spy me and make fun of me on his blog.

I swear to god though, these are all necessary.  True, it’s not necessary that they need to be pink and be in the shape of butterflies, but everything on this bike is entirely functional.  It’s not like I’m adorning my bike with baseball cards woven between the spokes or walk my bike as an accessory or only ever bike a few blocks at a time.  It does weird me out that my bike matches better than I do on most days, but I think it’s funny that my bike says, “I make no sense, but I’m trying really hard in the least technical way possible to create something cohesive.”  (I have two different types of wheels on my bike, and my back wheel is smaller than the front).

Nashbar also sells a guitar version of these platform pedals, which I think is absolutely ridiculous.  I don’t know why, I just think it’s dumb to try and make your bike representative of any other hobbies or skills you might have, just in case anyone was ever in doubt about how cool you might be.  It’s like sticking a big fat “Zildjian” or “Weezer” sticker on your bike.  The pedals are also a little on the heavy side, but I guess that doesn’t really matter since it’s mostly for looks anyway, right?  I’m not planning to do time trials at the Velodrome anytime soon.

p.s. okay I’ll admit, I have put a zildjian and weezer sticker on my mountain bike in the past, but I’ve cleaned that act up.

I don’t know bout you but Cubic Zirconia look damn good.

ring-2

ring-1

Can you tell which is a real diamond and which is the cubic zirconian?

Can you tell which ring(s) are junk box jewelry from where I work and which is from a (thankfully) failed engagement I had with someone from a long time ago?

Can you tell which photo was taken with a samsung point and shoot digital and the other photo with a canon rebel x dslr (although both were photoshoped in post-production)?

Can you tell which one is sold at Zales and which one is sold at Forever 21?

Can you tell which one costs $5000 and which one costs $5.99?

Can you tell which one people die for in Africa and which one people in China make for 5 cents a day?

*UPDATE*

As requested, here are the non-retouched images:

Mountain Biking

1

My pretty cobalt blue bike which I had to rent because my Gary Fisher which I haven’t rode in ~ 8 years was too fucked up to ride.

cliff

One section in which we had to walk our bikes across a perilous cliff!

47%

47% downhill grade in which Annie (whose first time it was biking) coasted down while laughing the entire time.  As for me, the entire time I’m like, “These goddamn rocks!! they’re so many fucking rocks and they keep moving!!”  and it took me forever to go down.

group shot

Group shot!!!  SEE, you can tell we went mountain biking because we’re wearing funny hats.

building

Window while walking through the town of Jim Thorpe.  This is a great little town to visit in the Pocono area of PA.  Super cute but not like a college town, tucked within folds of mountains.

Conclusion:  Mountain Biking is FUN!!!!!  Can’t wait to go again and overcome my fear of speed and not being in control and scary moving rock pebbles!!

Macy’s Flower Show and More Kalanchoe

flamingo

My co-workers and I got to do some window watching/live trend surfing during work today, so we stopped over to Macy’s, the mecca of hotness.  The smell of fresh flowers was overwhelming and look, more kalanchoe!  The flamingo above has a body made of a healthier/heartier version of kalanchoe plants than my still living but possibly on the brink of death kalanchoe plant.  I don’t know how long the flower show is lasting for, and I’m actually kind of too lazy to find out.  I figure it should last only about a week, maybe after the Easter Parade and considering the fact that cut flowers die.  It would be nice to take my mom out to see this though, she loves flowers.
