Ink Cleaning

ink

I cleaned out all the barrels in my fountain pens the other day, and it’s crazy how much ink is stored in just the nib.  Everytime I thought that I’d gotten all the ink out, a little more color would dribble out.   It made a big difference in the writing quality afterwards though, so it was worth it.

Leather Stuff

leather stuff

This shop is on 27th Street between 7th and 6th Avenue. Lots and lots of leather in all it’s untailored glory. The sign on the window says, “YES WE ARE OPEN PLEASE RING THE BELL.” I couldn’t believe this was the first time I’d seen this place considering I walked down this street nearly everyday for the last year and a half. I went in to get material to make my own pen case but got scared by the mounds of leather threatening to topple over me in the claustrophobic shop. The owner inside looked to be 500 years old, though sane and probably interesting to talk to as long as one doesn’t mind breathing leather dust the entire time.
