Toxic gas seeping freely into the street on the corner of Rivington and Forsythe. The building on the right is where I used to work as a Recreation Therapist. This is one of the buildings housing some of the true, Old School Lower East Siders: crack addicts and alcoholics. Anywhere else along this street and most of the rest of the neighborhood is the New Lower East Side: rich hipsters with trust funds that allow them to look like what else but stylish crack addicts and alcoholics. Two blocks down Rivington is my other place of former employment: Babeland.
