Brunch at L’Orange Bleue

A cozy and delicious place on Grand and Crosby street, these are coat hooks at the entrance of the restaurant. This is a really nice place to have brunch, I recommend the brioche french toast with vanilla sauce…. so yummy. I know I sound like a wannabe sophisticated yuppie but who cares, this place is good and they serve brunch till 4 PM. Not pricey and even though the patrons are yuppies and hipsters the service is down to earth, friendly and let you eat in civility without pressure. They have outdoor seating that looks out to the street like a real parisian cafe and supposedly belly dancers in the evening during dinner, but I haven’t been there for that meal yet. Besides the food they have a really nice color palate that accent the earthy decor… like orange, pink and blue, but used in a classic and poignant manner that is far from an obnoxious American Apparel store.

Jogging Through Downtown Manhattan

This gave me a double take running through Broadway and John Street. It looks like a crazy fun house tunnel but according to the NYTimes it’s a new initiative to liven up the drab construction sites in the city. Awesome! It does a great job of being eye catchy and generating a renewed vigor for city life, except instead of warning people to be careful around the dangerous construction sites most people and cars will probably run right into them because they’re too distracted by the artwork.

Thanksgiving!

Pil and I went to my parent’s house this Thanksgiving. Although this isn’t the house that I grew up in for most of my life, this is basically the environment that I grew up in, which is having decor like huge ass rosaries hanging around the house. Do you see the little red tassel hanging to the left of the rosary? That’s somebody’s ’92 graduation tassel (I have three siblings and we all went to college). The above rosary is large enough to fit around the neck of a Catholic Green Giant and best of all, it glows in the dark!
